We are trying to make it as easy as possible to get up and running with deemly. If you are on WordPress, it takes no more than 5 minutes to get the deemly user widget up and running with our WordPress plugin.
In this post, I will show you how to integrate the deemly user widget using Easy Digital Downloads and their marketplace theme Vendd. This is just an example, most themes will behave nicely with the deemly plugin.
You will go through four steps (assuming you already have a WordPress site):
- Install Easy Digital Downloads and the Vendd theme
- Install the deemly plugin
- Authorise your deemly business account
- Add the deemly trust Profile widget
Let’s get started.
1. Install Easy Digital Downloads and the Vendd Theme
Under Plugins, find and activate Easy Digital Downloads. I have created a new “Download”. Here it takes the form of a course, teaching you how to theme with WordPress. If you are looking for the full market place package, there is a discounted bundle here.
Next step is to get the Vendd theme and activate it. Your service page will look something like this after you add the two Vendd widgets: ‘Download Author’ and “Download details”.
While this is all good, we can see that I am a completely new author with a new service. In order to add a bit of trust to me and my profile, let us get deemly installed.
2. Install the deemly plugin
Go back to your plugins screen to search for and install the deemly plugin. After you activate it, you will see a new menu item called deemly. Here you need to enter your App Key and Secret Key. You will find both under your business account page. If you do not have one, head over to our business page or get in touch with us directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
3. Authorise your deemly Business Account
When you log into your business page, create your site and head over to the “Settings” page. Here, you will find the App key and Secret key. Copy and paste them into the fields in the WordPress admin screen.
When you have your keys saved, you are ready to take advantage of the deemly user widget.
4. Add the deemly Trust Profile Widget
For this last step, we need to head back to Appearance and Widgets in WordPress. Here, you will find a couple of new widgets, among them “deemly user profile”. Try and set it in the “Download sidebar” like this:
Now, if you go back and check the page for our WordPress theming course, nothing has really happened. This is because your users – the authors of the download – will have to add their deemly ID to their profile on your site. This can be done in many ways and is very theme dependent. If you have any doubt, check with the creator of your theme.
If you go to the Users section in WordPress and scroll down, you will see a field called ‘deemly ID’. Next to it is a link. When you click on the link, you can log into your deemly account and retrieve your ID.
When this is done the deemly widget will appear on your download page like expected.
You are now up and running with deemly on your WordPress MarketPlace 🙂
If you have any questions or something that does not work as expected, feel free to reach out to email@example.com and we will try and help you out. WordPress can be a bit of a jungle with plugins and themes but there is always a way.
